1       What is personal data?

Personal data as defined in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This data is subject to data protection legislation, in particular GDPR and the German Data Protection Act (BDSG), and is protected by technical and organisational measures.

2       Collecting usage data

All visits to our website are stored in a log. In creating this log, the following data is collected and stored by us until it is automatically deleted: the IP address of the computer sending the query, the date and time the website was accessed, the pages you visit and the website that directed you to our website. This data is collected and processed for the following purposes: ensuring consistent system security and stability, optimising our website, and creating and analysing internal statistics and profiles on how users surf the site. The legal basis for this processing is derived from Article 6(1), sentence 1, point (f) GDPR.

3       Cookies

Our websites use cookies. These are small text files that are stored on the user’s hard drive and exchange certain settings and data with our systems via the user’s browser. Generally, cookies contain the domain name from which the cookie data was sent, information on the cookies’ age and an alphanumeric ID. Cookies allow us to personalise the website and improve your browsing experience, for example by storing certain data entered by you so that you do only have to do so once. We do not use the information stored in these cookies to identify the user, nor do we combine it with other personal data.

4       Passing on your data to third parties

For some technical processes to analyse, process or store data, we enlist the services of external providers. These service providers are selected carefully and meet high data-protection and security standards. They have a strict obligation to maintain confidentiality and process data solely as mandated and instructed by us. Apart from in the cases set out in this privacy policy, we will only forward data to third parties without your consent when obligated to do so by law, the authorities or a court.

5       Storage period

We store the usage data described in point 2 for 18 months. Otherwise, your data is deleted when it is no longer needed for the purposes mentioned, unless legal requirements stipulate a longer storage period.

6       Rights regarding stored personal data

You have right of access to the personal data we have stored about you, provided this has been obtained via newsletters or forms, for example, and the right to amend or delete your data, to opt out, and to restrict processing under the respective statutory requirements.

You can also lodge complaints regarding data use with the competent supervisory authority.
